Love and Labels (Baltimore)

Sun, 02/18/2018 - 1:00pm - 4:15pm

Labels are handy to use, and they also have their drawbacks!

I've been surprised to find that the word "story" stimulates unpleasant emotions in some people, whereas I love to use it. In this workshop/practice group we will examine the labels we use and the meanings that live beneath them. The intention is to have a light-hearted look at language and its effect on our perceptions and behaviour.

We will play Disable the Label as a group and have plenty of time for small groups to practice reflective listening and empathy guesses in a game I call Speaker, Mirror, Guesser.

Bring your favorite and troublesome labels.

Where and What:  Bolton Street Synagoge (212 W. Coldspring Lane, Baltimore, 21210) on the third Sunday of each month, Barbra Esher, Chris Hartstein or guest trainer offer support and exercises -- a workshop -- for learning NVC concepts. This is also a practice group, because we spend 3 hours together and, in our time together, learn to value the connections, learning, and support that we get when we are honest with each other and bring our issues to share. We have become a community, because that's what happens when we share our issues, care, and support.

We welcome new participants at any level. It’s fun when a “newbie” comes and we, “newbies” not so long ago, suddenly see that we’ve learned something important we can pass on, at the same time deepening our understanding of new contexts.

$$ info- The requested fee is $20 per person.

Please don't let the cost keep you from coming, if you don't have the $s right now. Sustainability is important to us but contribution even more so, which we can't do unless you show up!
