Choosing Peace: Resolving Conflicts Internally

Fri, 01/12/2018 - 12:00am - Mon, 01/15/2018 - 12:00am

Begin and End Times: Registration is from 12-1pm on Friday; the program ends at 5pm on Monday.

John Kinyon and Ike Lasater of Mediate Your Life have spent years developing and offering the "Choose Peace, Create Peace" workshop series. The second 4-day training, Resolving Conflicts Internally, can be taken alone or as the beginning of a year-long immersion program.

From their website:

Everyone knows that peace has to begin with oneself, but not many people know how to do it.
– Thich Nhat Hanh

A life changes one conversation at a time. When you change your life, the world changes. The first conversation to have is with yourself.

To be truly at ease with yourself and with those around you is transformative. The first step is to approach every conflict – whether internal or external – as an opportunity. The Mediate Your Life Resolving Conflicts Internally intensive is a 4-day training that integrates Compassionate Communication (Nonviolent Communication/NVC), mindfulness, and a mediation framework to help you learn to negotiate conflicts within, whether they are with another person or between warring parts of yourself.

The full Choosing Peace Immersion Program consists of three 4-day intensives. These intensives are particularly powerful and transformative when done as a year program of three intensives, with partner practice in between. However, they are designed so that they can be taken individually as stand-alone trainings or as a package of two intensives, and in any order

This year John Kinyon is again offering the series on the East Copast, near Boston with Gail Carroll and Paul Merrill assisting.

I first enrolled in this program in 2011. John and Ike developed a training structure and exercises that continue to enrich my NVC practice. If any of you have been to a workshop where I offered "Intensity Practice" -- well, that's John and Ike's exercise. In addition to the 4-day program, participants set up weekly practices to hone skills between immersion retreats.
