Shelly Marcus (formerly Jeanne Marcus) is a mediator, communications coach and trainer, who bases her work on the Nonviolent Communications [NVC] model of Dr. Marshall Rosenberg. She is a graduate of the 2007 North America NVC Leadership Program, based in Oakland, California. She served as an assistant trainer for the 2008 Leadership Program, and is currently the Lead Assistant for the 2009 Program.
She is co-founder of Capital NVC, an information clearinghouse and organizational umbrella for Nonviolent Communication training in the metro D.C. area. She is also a certification candidate with the global Center for Nonviolent Communication.
Shelley has her law degree from the University of Texas at Austin. She has completed the foundational mediation training requirements set by Maryland courts’ Rule 17, and is a Practitioner Member of the Association for Conflict Resolution.
Shelley enjoys coaching individuals, couples and co-worker with their communication issues, and also enjoys facilitating small groups. From 2001 through 2005, she was on the pastoral staff team for a small, innovative non-denominational church. She and her husband, Steve, live in Silver Spring, Maryland, and have two grown sons.
