Barbra Esher combines her life-long mindfulness practice with sharing Compassionate Communication (NVC). In 2009, while in a study group on Thich Nhat Hanh’s work, she was reflecting on his words: "...we are determined to cultivate nonviolence, compassion, and the insight of interbeing in our daily lives and promote peace, education, mindful meditation, and reconciliation within families, communities, ethnic and religious groups, nations, and in the world." Like a bolt of lightening, she was struck with the insight that she could manifest this by studying, practicing, and sharing NVC. Since that time, she has pursued this aspiration with zeal, accumulating more than 1,000 hours of training while traveling all over the world.
Barbra specializes in sharing NVC within mindfulness/meditation communities and drug and alcohol treatment centers. She is a Certified Trainer with the global Center for Nonviolent Communication and is ordained as a member of Thich Nhat Hahn’s Order of Interbeing. She also has 25 years experience learning, practicing, and teaching the healing art of acupuncture, shiatsu, and East Asian medicine.
