Sex, Lies, and NVC

Sun, 01/21/2018 - 1:00pm - 4:15pm

Presented by Barbra Esher

In an NVC workshop recently, we discussed what stimulated the feeling of shame. For some people, SEX was on the top of their list. Many expressed that they would like to work more extensively on this topic.

Whether we are in a relationship or not, sex can be an amazing, beautiful, passionate, precious, and sacred part of life. Being able to talk about sex with ease, be fully present when others talk about it, and be in full self-expression of our own sexuality are innate yearnings within us. NVC can support us in healing old wounds and living life more fully.

  • Enhance your comfort in talking more openly about sex
  • Transform old beliefs about sex that don't serve Life
  • Feel empowered to clearly ask for what you want
  • Learn how to hear and say no with compassion
  • Experience the safety, care, and fun of a supportive community in which you can learn and grow!

I want to thank Roger Sorrow and Anne Walton, whose workshop “Let’s Talk Sex” has informed this seminar tremendously!

Led by: Leora Ward, a trained life coach, yoga instructor, and facilitator. After years of working in the social justice, women's empowerment, and humanitarian fields, I was feeling burned out and decided there had to be a better way to help people around me AND prioritize my own needs in a real way.

  • "Once I mastered these skills, I began supporting other women who also struggle with self-love and knowing their worth, who want to find a gentler way to serve others and be more impactful in their work and life. This program is focused on self-connection – in recognition that we are better caretakers, activists, and change makers when we are fully in tune with ourselves and our bodies.
  • "I have been leading NVC-informed workshops and retreats in Washington, DC and around the U.S. I am also a graduate of the 2016 Bay Area NVC Leadership Program. This program will teach the principles and practices of NVC in a way that you can practically and immediately apply in your everyday life."

After this program, you will be able to:

  • --Clearly identify your feelings and needs in order to self-connect and remind yourself what’s important during difficult conversations and decisions.
  • --Explore and replace your self-limiting beliefs or stories and transform them into more loving and supportive self-talk.
